1. Our commitment
Smitties wants every customer to be able to browse, choose, and buy independently. Accessibility is a requirement in how we build, not an afterthought.
2. Standards we build to
We build against WCAG 2.1 level AA. New features are checked against these criteria before release, and reported issues on existing pages are triaged ahead of routine work.
3. Measures in place
Semantic HTML landmarks and heading structure; full keyboard operability with visible focus states; colour contrast meeting AA in both light and dark modes; text alternatives on product imagery; form labels and error messaging tied to their fields; and motion kept minimal with no auto-playing media.
4. Compatibility
The site is tested with current versions of major browsers and screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA) on desktop and mobile. Content renders at 200% zoom and in portrait or landscape without loss of function.
5. Known limitations
Some third-party embeds (carrier tracking widgets, payment iframes) are outside our direct control. Where one falls short, contact us and we will complete the task with you another way.
